One of the things I hate most about running is the random idiots who drive by screaming insults. "RUN FASTER!" "HEY, FATTY!"
-_-;;
Today, however, that did not happen. That is not what is special; since I switched to my new route two weeks ago, the jerks have been fewer, it's a much less busy road with a lower speed limit.
At the hour mark tonight, I was just about to wrap up my run for the night, tired, not doing as much as I did a month ago - you start to get sick of this, you know? An hour instead of 90 minutes, you let it slide because it still seems like a lot to someone who hardly got off of his ass 'til recently.
I'm almost at the finish, my legs are feeling like total crap, sweat is dripping off of every part of my body. It's dark, too. And some middle-aged lady just stops her car near me and calls out,
"Hey! I just have to tell you!" I turn around and look at her, expecting the absolute worst. "Yeah?" "I come by here every night, and I just wanted to say, you're doing a great job! You've lost so much weight!" Naturally, I'm totally frickin' stunned. "Uh... wow... thanks. Thanks. Thanks!" "You're welcome! I just thought you should know that!" Then she starts to drive off. I'm still trying to sort out what happened, then I remember my manners; "Thanks a lot! Have a great night!" "You too!" she called back.
And then I decided I needed to do those other three laps.

People have a near infinite capacity for compassion, as well as jackassery. It is sad that it is stunning when the former happens instead of the latter.
It is good that you have kept up with your exercises this long; it is a definite sign that you are far more dedicated than most who try. Keep up the good work; the benefits of fitness are numerous, and the journey there can be quite fun.
